As we continue to celebrate School Board Recognition Month, today we highlight our Board Member, Mr. Rudy Santa-Cruz. He is a retired teacher from Alhambra and Phoenix Elementary School District with over 30 years of teaching experience. He understands the importance of education firsthand and continues to push for improvement towards student achievement. He has served on the Isaac Elementary School District Governing Board for over 10 years. He has been a lifelong resident of the Isaac School District as well as a J.B. Sutton alumni and Carl Hayden High School graduate. He went on to attend Phoenix College, Grand Canyon University and Arizona State University. His passion for supporting our Isaac schools and students allows the Board to continue towards a path of success. We appreciate his ongoing commitment and leadership to the Isaac Community.
As we continue to celebrate School Board Recognition Month, we would like to highlight our Board Member, Ms. Maria Hernandez. She has been a community member in the Isaac School District for over 15 years. She has also worked as a Parent Educator in the Isaac School District for 23 years. As a retired Isaac employee, her greatest interest is to continue working towards being a voice to ensure the best high-quality education for our Isaac students. Ms. Hernandez has served as a Board Member for three years, she continues to be an active learner and engaged and continues to be an active member of the Isaac Community. We appreciate her ongoing commitment and leadership to the Isaac Community.
The Isaac School District’s Annual High School Fair was held this evening. We were excited to see our families participate in this event to learn more about various high schools in preparation for their child’s high school endeavors. Thank you to all the high schools and organizations for making this event successful! We appreciate their participation in this annual event for our Isaac scholars.
As our School Board Recognition Month continues, today we highlight our Board Member, Mr. Harry Garewal Jr. He has served on the ISD Board and continues advocating for our Isaac Scholars. This is Mr. Garewal’s third consecutive school year serving on the Isaac Elementary School District Governing Board with prior years as an ISD Board Member. He and his family serve the Isaac School District Community and understand the importance of providing a quality of education as it is the foundation to student success. His passion with his years of experience and knowledge is the reason why he continues to put students as the main focus. We appreciate his ongoing commitment and leadership to the Isaac Community.
The Heart of Isaac Community Center hosted its Community Resource Day today which was open and free to all. This successful Resource Day included free health screenings, vaccines, fresh produce, immigration consultations and so much more. A big thank you to all of our community partnerships who participated and supported the Heart of Isaac event.

This evening we had our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting. Parents, school site leaders, and parent educators reviewed and analyzed data. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions on specific areas of our current ISD Strategic Plan that are going well, areas of improvement, and opportunities to share what else should be considered in the process of revising our ISD Strategic Plan. Stakeholder input is an essential component of this process. We value our PAC members for their ongoing partnership and support to the Isaac Community.
January is School Board Recognition Month, we would like to highlight our Board Clerk, Ms. Maria Guzman. She has been an Isaac Community Member for 18 years and has served on the Isaac Elementary School District Governing Board for 15 years. Ms. Guzman understands the importance of public education and the importance of serving on the board. She has received numerous awards including two Total Boardmanship Awards, Certificate of Boardmanship, Associate of Boardmanship, Master of Boardmanship and Isaac Leadership recognition. We appreciate her ongoing commitment and leadership to the Isaac Community.

As we celebrate School Board Recognition Month, we would like to highlight our Governing Board Members, beginning with our Board President, Ms. Patricia Jimenez.
For the past 20 years, Ms. Patricia Jimenez has served on the Isaac Elementary School District Governing Board, and her enthusiasm, love, and passion for the families she supports have never waned. She currently serves as Board President, a position she has held thirteen times prior.
As an active member of the Isaac community for over 30 years and a Governing Board Member since 2003, Ms. Jimenez reflects the values, mission, and vision of the Isaac School District. She knows firsthand the importance of being an active parent and community leader and has the experience and knowledge to evidence her tenure as a Board leader and fervent community advocate.
Ms. Jimenez has received numerous awards for her service as a governing board member including the award for Outstanding Board Member from the Arizona Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents.
We appreciate her ongoing commitment and leadership to the Isaac Community.
Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as one of history's most influential civil rights leaders. There will be no school on Monday, January 16, 2023. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

Isaac Leaders continued the work with McREL Balanced Leadership. Participants engaged in reflection and planned how to increase the quality of instruction for our students. The activities included identifying leadership responsibilities that align with specific actions. We are proud of our team’s commitment to learning.

Tonight’s Governing Board Meeting included the re-election of the Governing Board President for 2023 Ms. Patricia Jimenez and the re-election of Ms. Maria Guzman as Board Clerk. Thank you to our amazing ISD Board for their leadership and ongoing commitment.
