The Heart of Isaac Community Center hosted its monthly Resource Day, where families and community members had access to a range of resources, such as free health screenings, fresh produce, and other essential items. We are grateful for the 113 families who joined us this morning and to our community partnerships who helped provide these valuable resources to our Isaac Community.
Celebrating 100 Days of School at ISD! Yesterday marked a significant milestone in our school year – the 100th day of learning! Students and staff across ISD celebrated their hard work and growth this year by dressing up as 100-year-olds. The future is bright, and we look forward to the continued growth and progress in the months ahead.

Our dedicated leaders in various roles across the district gathered for an enlightening session on embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our educational landscape. By understanding and embracing AI, we are not just keeping pace with the evolving digital world but leading the charge. Our leaders delved into how AI can revolutionize our approach to education, making our work more impactful and efficient.
During School Board Recognition Month, we honor Mr. Rudy Santa-Cruz for his exemplary service on the Isaac Elementary School District Governing Board. A former teacher with over 30 years in Alhambra and Phoenix Districts, and an alumnus of J.B. Sutton and Carl Hayden High School, Mr. Santa-Cruz's deep understanding of education enriches our district. His decade-long board membership, combined with his commitment to student success, significantly contributes to our community's educational progress. We are thankful for his enduring dedication and leadership in the Isaac Community.
The Isaac School District Spelling Bee showcased the hard work and dedication of our Isaac scholars. We extend our congratulations to all student participants and a special recognition to the top three winners. In first place, Quintin Kersey from Morris K. Udall Middle School, in second place, Viktoria Hodges from Pueblo Del Sol, and in third place, Eileen Morales Moreno from Isaac Online Prep Academy. We wish them the best of luck in the upcoming Regional Spelling Bee!
During School Board Recognition Month, we highlight Ms. Patricia Jimenez, an Isaac Elementary School District Governing Board Member. With over 20 years on the Board and over 13 terms as President, she embodies the District's mission and values. An active community member for 30+ years, Ms. Jimenez's leadership has earned her several accolades, including the Outstanding Board Member award from the Arizona Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents. Her dedication to the Isaac Community is deeply valued.
In our School Board Recognition Month celebrations, we turn our attention to Mr. Harry Garewal Jr., a devoted Isaac Elementary School District Governing Board Member. Now in his fourth year, Mr. Garewal and his family are dedicated to improving educational standards, acknowledging their importance in shaping student futures. His enthusiasm, expertise, and student-focused perspective are essential assets. We deeply appreciate his unwavering commitment and leadership within the Isaac Community.
Celebrating School Board Recognition Month, we recognize Board Clerk Ms. Maria Hernandez. With over 15 years in the Isaac School District community and 23 years as a Parent Educator, her dedication as a retired employee remains strong. Focused on advocating for high-quality education for all Isaac students, Ms. Hernandez has been an active and engaged Board Member over the years. Her commitment and leadership in the Isaac Community are greatly appreciated.
In School Board Recognition Month, we spotlight our Board President, Ms. Maria Guzman. A member of the Isaac Community for 18 years and a Governing Board member for 15, Ms. Guzman is a dedicated advocate for public education. Her achievements include Total Boardmanship Awards, Boardmanship Certificates at various levels, and Isaac Leadership recognition. We are grateful for her continued leadership and commitment to the Isaac Community.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed annually on the third Monday of January. It is a day set aside to commemorate the life and legacy of one of America's most influential civil rights leaders. To honor his remarkable contributions to justice and equality, there will be no school on Monday, January 15, 2024. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
