Please help your student come ready to shine: get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast, arrive on time, and bring *wired headphones* if they have them. 🎧

Remind them that the test is adaptive, so some questions will feel easy and others will feel hard. The goal is simply to take their time, stay positive, and do their best.

And remember the Power of YET: “I don’t know that… YET!” 💙💛

Esperanza families, our Beginning-of-the-Year Diagnostic testing begins this Tuesday, August 18. Please help us make sure students are ready to show what they know and do their very best!

💡 What is an adaptive test?
The diagnostic adjusts to each student as they work. When a student answers correctly, the test may give them a more challenging question. When a question is difficult, the test may adjust and provide something more appropriate for their current skill level.

That means students should expect:
⭐ Some questions to feel *easy*
⭐ Some questions to feel *just right*
⭐ Some questions to feel *very difficult*

This is completely normal! Students are not expected to know every answer. The purpose is to find out what they already know and what they are ready to learn next.

💙 Please encourage your child to:

* Take their time and read each question carefully.
* Work problems out instead of guessing.
* Keep trying, even when a question feels difficult.
* Relax and simply do their best!

🎧 WIRED HEADPHONES ARE VERY IMPORTANT!
Please make sure your child brings a pair of wired headphones to school. Headphones help create a quieter testing environment and allow students to concentrate without distracting others. Please do not send Bluetooth or wireless headphones.

⏰ ATTENDANCE & BEING ON TIME MATTER!
Please make every effort to have your child at school and on time each day during testing. Arriving late or missing part of a testing session can interrupt your child's concentration and make testing more stressful.

A little encouragement from home can make a BIG difference! Remind your child that this is not about getting every question right. We simply want them to take their time, keep trying, and show us what they know. 🌟

Esperanza families, our August Parent Educator Calendar is here! This month is filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and become involved in our school community.

Important Food Policy Update for the 2026–2027 School Year

Dear Students and Families,

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, the new Arizona Healthy Schools Act will change how food may be served, sold, and shared at public schools.

Outside food and drinks may no longer be brought to school to share during birthdays, classroom parties, celebrations, rewards, or other school-sponsored events. This includes cupcakes, cookies, donuts, homemade treats, and similar items.

Students may still bring a lunch, snack, or treat from home for their own individual use. However, food packed from home may not be shared with other students.

The law also limits schools participating in federal meal programs from serving or selling foods containing one or more of the 11 ingredients identified in the attached flyer.
