This afternoon our campus had it's first lock down drill of the school year. It went off without incident. Fire drills, lock down drills, and bus evacuation drills are a key component to keeping our students and staff safe at school, and is an integral part of Isaac School District's Strategic Plan. Please keep in mind that these drills provide practice and experience in the unlikely event of an emergency. Have a wonderful weekend!! Yesterday the parents from A Stepping Stone had their 3rd class in the Kindergarten Bootcamp series presented by the Phoenix Public Library. Everyone had a blast singing, dancing, and practicing early writing skills. Be on the lookout for a survey going home soon on which parent classes you would be interested in seeing here at the Isaac Preschool. Ayer los padres de A Stepping Stone tuvieron su tercera clase en la serie Kindergarten Bootcamp presentada por la Biblioteca Pública de Phoenix. Todos se divirtieron mucho cantando, bailando y practicando las primeras habilidades de escritura. This week the Isaac Preschool had their first bus evacuation. Each class learned how to safely get on the bus, where safety features are located on the bus, and practiced a quick evacuation out of the front of the bus. There will be one more bus evacuation this year in the spring, where the students will evacuate from a different emergency exit. Esta semana el preescolar Isaac tuvo su primera evacuación de autobús. Cada clase aprendió cómo subir al autobús de manera segura, dónde están ubicadas las características de seguridad en el autobús y practicaron una evacuación rápida desde la parte delantera del autobús. This week Isaac Preschool's Social Worker Eric began a series on social skills to present in each classroom throughout the semester. This week's lesson focused on identifying different emotions. You can ask your student if they remember what any of the emotions they learned were or even ask if they remember the color associated with each one. We are so excited for our students to have this opportunity! Esta semana, Eric, el trabajador social de Isaac Preschool, comenzó una serie sobre habilidades sociales para presentar en cada salón de clases durante el semestre. La lección de esta semana se centró en identificar diferentes emociones. We have some exciting news!!! A new classroom at Isaac Preschool will be opening up on Monday!! Room 9 with Teacher Cheri and Teacher Dora. We cannot wait to meet our new students! If you have already registered for this class and will be starting on Monday, please stop by the office to check in before your first day! We do have a few open spots left in some classrooms, so if you have any friends or family who are looking for preschool for their little ones, please spread the word!! ¡¡¡Tenemos noticias interesantes!!! ¡¡Se abrirá un nuevo salón de clases en Isaac Preschool el lunes!! Salón 9 con la Maestra Cheri y la Maestra Dora. ¡Estamos ansiosos por conocer a nuestros nuevos estudiantes! Pase por la oficina para registrarse antes del primer día. If you have not been inside the school in a little while, you probably haven't seen the picture day fliers that were posted. We just wanted to give all families a little heads up for this exciting day coming up on September 16th and 17h! Uniforms will not be required for the day your student's class has photos. Picture day will be split up into 2 days to allow enough time to fit all classrooms in. We will be sending fliers home soon with your student's assigned day. Our parents from A Stepping Stone attended their first parenting class series today: Kindergarten Bootcamp hosted by the Phoenix Library. Everyone had a blast, singing, moving, and practicing school readiness skills together. Hispanic Heritage Month is approaching and Isaac Preschool can't wait to honor the culture and traditions of the students we serve, and the community that we are a part of. The definition of heritage is, valued objects and qualities such as cultural traditions, that have been passed down from previous generations. Our heritage is a large portion of what makes us who we are, and that is something to celebrate! Speaking of celebrating, here is one fun early childhood figure to recognize for their contributions to Hispanic heritage. Sonia Manzano: For over 40 years, actress and scriptwriter Sonia Manzano entertained and educated young children through her portrayal of Maria on “Sesame Street.” Her contributions to the show as a writer awarded her 15 Emmys, along with a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Se acerca el Mes de la Herencia Hispana y el Isaac Preschool está ansioso por honrar la cultura y las tradiciones de los estudiantes a los que servimos y la comunidad de la que formamos parte. La definición de patrimonio son objetos y cualidades valorados, como las tradiciones culturales, que se han transmitido de generaciones anteriores.
