ISD Parents and Guardians,

As we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, we would like to remind you of some key safety measures for your children as they walk to and from school. Your involvement and guidance in these matters are crucial in ensuring the well-being of our young learners.

1. Buddy System: Encourage your child to walk with a friend or group. There is safety in numbers, and the buddy system ensures that your child is not walking alone.

2. Stay Alert and Vigilant: Teach your child to be aware of their surroundings. They should avoid distractions like using electronic devices while walking. Being alert helps them to be more aware of traffic, strangers, and other potential hazards.

3. Follow Traffic Rules: Remind them to use pedestrian crossings, obey traffic signals, and look both ways before crossing the street. Even walking with adults or older students, they must understand and follow these basic rules.

4. Stranger Danger Awareness: Educate your child about not talking to or going anywhere with strangers. They should immediately understand the significance of reporting suspicious behavior to a trusted adult.

5. Safe Routes: Plan and practice a safe route to school with your child. Choose well-traveled streets and avoid shortcuts through isolated areas.

6. Emergency Contact Information: Ensure your child knows their home address, your contact number, and how to reach out in case of an emergency. It's also helpful if they know how to identify safe places or individuals like police officers or school staff to approach for help.

Your cooperation in reinforcing these safety measures at home is invaluable. Let's work together to create a safe and secure student environment. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the safety of our children.
