The education and the safety of our students are of the utmost importance at the Isaac School District. As such we want to make you aware of an attempted abduction that was reported to us by a student.

Approximately at 7:45 am a man described with a long braided beard and a bald head wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with an orange shirt over the black shirt, approached a student at the bus stop and attempted to lure the student into his car after asking for the studentā€™s number. This took place near the Home-Town Suites on 50th ave and the South side of McDowell. The vehicle was an older-model silver Toyota Camry with tinted windows, and the perpetrator appeared to be in his late thirties. The school contacted the Phoenix Police Department and a police report was made.

The intent of this letter is not to cause undue alarm, but to inform you of this situation so that you can discuss customary safety precautions with your child. Please take the time to remind your child about your personal expectations when they are outdoors in an unsupervised area, as well as other common safety rules and practices that might include:

  • Donā€™t talk to strangers or walk to an unknown vehicle at the driverā€™s request

  • Donā€™t accept anything from a stranger

  • Walk with an adult or group of friends to and from the bus stop

  • Follow the appropriate walking routes and stay in well-lit areas

  • Go directly home after school, and check in with your parents/guardian upon arrival

  • Tell a trusted adult if approached by an unknown person, or who finds them in an uncomfortable situation

To ensure the safety of every child, we must work together as a community, and be vigilant in reporting and sharing information.

Sincerely,

Henry Smith
