Lockdown Drill Letter to Parents

Dear Parents and Guardians of Zito Scholars,

This communication is intended to share with you an important update about a planned exercise at our school aimed at enhancing the safety and security of our students and staff. In response to our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety, we are excited to announce the scheduling of a lockdown drill. This proactive measure is part of our continuous effort to enhance our school's preparedness and response capabilities.

This exercise is a critical part of our commitment to maintaining a secure environment for everyone on campus. We are taking this step as a proactive measure to ensure preparedness in the event of an emergency, much like our regular fire drills. The lockdown is set for Tuesday, December 19th, and will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The school will be completely secured during this time, with no entry or exit allowed.

Here's a brief overview of the drill:

1. Purpose: The lockdown drill is designed to train our students and staff in safety protocols law enforcement recommends during emergencies.

2. Timing: The exercise will be conducted from 8:00 to 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19th.

3. Campus Access: The school campus will be closed off during the drill. Everyone will remain in their designated areas behind locked doors. No one will be allowed to enter the building.

4. Stay Informed: We will keep you updated about this event through various channels, including emails, Class Dojo messages, and updates on our school website. Please ensure your contact details are current in our system.

5. Collaboration with Authorities: Our staff will communicate with key personnel, including the front and district offices, and we have informed the local authorities about the drill.

We realize this may cause some disruption, but it is necessary to ensure our school community's continued safety. Your understanding, cooperation, and support in this matter are greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office at 602.442.2500 or your child’s teacher directly.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the safety and well-being of our students.

Sincerely,

Laura Couret

Principal
