Let's take a minute to discuss something that is a common occurrence at the preschool level; separation anxiety. If you find yourself asking "What is separation anxiety?" you're not alone. Separation anxiety is a fear of being away from parents or caregivers. It's developmentally normal for children under 3 years old who are still learning to be independent. As kids get older, however, some may worry that something bad will happen to people in their absence, or they still feel lost and scared. Going to daycare or school can be difficult for children who experience separation anxiety, and they often experience something like the "Sunday Scaries" that some adults get before the start of the workweek. Things that disrupt kids' routines can make these feelings worse. For example, significant life changes like a divorce, a move, a new sibling, or a pandemic can make a child feel like life is a little less predictable—and a little more worrisome. Today the Isaac Preschool had a special visitor, Maira the therapy dog! The kids were so excited to say hi and give gentle pets to Maira! Last week, Isaac Preschool's A Stepping Stone classroom went on another field trip!! This time their adventure was to the Arizona Museum of Natural History in Mesa. You may have also heard of this museum as "the Dinosaur Museum". The dinosaur exhibit that moves and make noises is always a favorite, but the students had a blast panning for gold, cleaning fossils, exploring old mines and jail cells, and all of the other exhibits the museum had to offer! We can't wait to go back next year!! ¡La semana pasada, el salón de clases A Stepping Stone de Isaac Preschool fue a otra excursión! Esta vez su aventura fue al Museo de Historia Natural de Arizona en Mesa. Es posible que también hayas oído hablar de este museo como "el Museo de los Dinosaurios". La exhibición de dinosaurios que se mueve y hace ruidos es siempre una de las favoritas, pero los estudiantes se divirtieron mucho buscando oro, limpiando fósiles, explorando antiguas minas y celdas de prisión, ¡y todas las demás exhibiciones que el museo tenía para ofrecer! ¡Estamos ansiosos por volver el año que viene!

If you noticed that the parking lot was quite crowded on Monday, it was because the Isaac Team gathered at Estrellas Brillantes (our new campus name) for another productive session dedicated to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Our day was filled with insightful reflection, engaging discussions, and a deep dive into academic data. Together, we are committed to aligning our actions with the evolving needs of our students. Next week is Spirit Week at the Isaac Preschool. Our Shining Stars classroom will reach 100 days of school so we figured a celebration was in order. Did you know that Arizona law requires for children to use a car seat? Phoenix Children’s Hospital provided a carseat/booster seat training at Isaac Preschool where participants received a free seat after completing the workshop.
