Isaac Preschool

A language rich environment is one in which children are surrounded by talking, singing, and reading and have many opportunities throughout their day, across all activities, to communicate with others and engage in back-and-forth conversations. A rich language environment is important to children’s early learning, and can have strong effects on early language, vocabulary, reading, and math skills, as well as on children’s social-emotional development. Research shows that some young children are exposed to more language in their homes, early learning programs, and school settings, than other children. This difference in the number of words and back-and-forth conversations to which children are exposed is called the “word gap”. This week we are going to give some tips that you can use to help bridge the word gap by enriching the language environment of all young children in your care, including children who do not speak yet, children with disabilities or delays, and children who are learning more than one language. For children with disabilities or delays, communicate with their other service providers and keep each other informed about the strategies you are using to enhance their language environment. Un entorno rico en lenguaje es aquel en el que los niños están rodeados de conversación, canto y lectura y tienen muchas oportunidades a lo largo del día, en todas las actividades, para comunicarse con otros y participar en conversaciones de ida y vuelta. Un entorno lingüístico rico es importante para el aprendizaje temprano de los niños y puede tener fuertes efectos en las habilidades tempranas del lenguaje, el vocabulario, la lectura y las matemáticas, así como en el desarrollo socioemocional de los niños. Las investigaciones muestran que algunos niños pequeños están expuestos a más lenguaje en sus hogares, programas de aprendizaje temprano y entornos escolares que otros niños. Have you seen our lending library outside Bret Tarver? This library is intended for you to "take a book, and leave a book" so it is always fully stocked, and each student has the chance to read something new. There is much research to prove the importance of reading to your children each and every day. Not only does it support literacy development, expand vocabulary and comprehension, but it also provides a wonderful opportunity for you to spend one on one time with your child to bond. Ask lots of questions, "Who do you see?" "What do you think is going to happen next?" Where do you think they are?" "Has this happened in any other books we've read?". Consider looking through your home library this weekend and bringing a book to leave in our lending library. Don't forget to take one in return!!! The Bret Tarver Isaac Preschool has started off the year in a beautiful new campus!! Our students and teachers are loving the new space! Today is Speech Pathologist Appreciation Day!!!!! It's time to shout out the AMAZING speech team we have here at Bret Tarver! If you don't have a child who receives speech services, you've probably still seen these ladies around campus many times. Whether it's incoming student screenings, providing services in the classroom or small groups for current students, or MET/IEP meetings, this rockstar team does it all! They also make time for every special event that the preschool has like our turkey trot, please and thank you parade, etc to make sure all students on campus have an absolute blast! We appreciate you ladies for all that you do!! If you see them on campus tomorrow, give them a high five!!! ¡Hoy es el Día de Agradecimiento al Patólogo del Habla!!!!! ¡Es hora de gritar el INCREÍBLE equipo de oratoria que tenemos aquí en Bret Tarver! Si no tiene un hijo que reciba servicios del habla, es probable que aún haya visto a estas damas en el campus muchas veces. Today is National School Communicator's day! Here at Bret Tarver we have a Communications Ambassador who is in charge of keeping our school website up to date, posting on social media to make sure all parents are aware of school happenings, and creating the school newsletter every month. It's time to reveal the face behind all of these tasks for the year. If you see Heather around campus today, be sure to tell her thank you!!! ¡Hoy es el día del Comunicador Escolar Nacional! Today is School Nurse's Day!! Here at Bret Tarver Preschool the smiling face you'll see traveling back and forth across the street is Nurse Jocelyn! She is a true rockstar tending to the children at two different school sites and we could not appreciate her more for all of her hard work!! This week is teacher appreciation week!!! We have so many phenomenal teachers here at Bret Tarver who work so hard each and every day to keep a smile on each student's face. Make sure you thank your teacher this week when you see them!! Have your student make them a card, pick a flower from your yard, or just give their teacher a big hug!! We love our teachers!!! ¡Esta semana es la semana de agradecimiento a los maestros! It is the time of year for everyone's favorite unit theme.... INSECTS!! Bug masks, classroom caterpillars, butterfly releases, ladybug hunts in the grass, and digging in the garden for worms....so much fun exploring!!! Today is Administrative Assistants Appreciation Day! Martha and Ofelia are the first faces you see when stepping onto our campus! They are the first to greet everyone with a smile and the last ones to wave goodbye. The Bret Tarver preschool thanks both of these wonderful ladies for everything they do to support all staff and students here on campus!
