Project Lead the Way
Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a national non-profit organization that develops innovative curriculums designed to equip students with the skills needed in the 21st-century economy.
MKU's participation in the PLTW program is made possible by a grant awarded by Verizon. MKU currently offers two PLTW courses
- Computer Science App Creators: In this semester-long course, MKU students gain hands-on experience in designing Android Mobile Applications, using open-source tools such as MIT App Inventor. The course culminates in an end-of-semester project in which students design Android applications that address societal issues.
- Computer Science for Innovators & Makers: CSIM is a foundational Computer Science course designed for students who have not had prior exposure to Computer Science courses. MKU Students develop experience in working with hardware and software and complete meaningful projects that require interaction between the 2 components.
Questions regarding MKU's PLTW courses and/or the Computer Science program can be addressed to Mr. Thompson.
