Dear Sutton Families:
I like to introduce myself, my name is Dr. Randy Martinez and I will be serving the Sutton Community as your new Principal. My background includes over sixteen years as an educator with three of those years being a Principal. I look forward to getting to know students, families and our community to support our most precious resource, our students.
We hope you have found a way to stay cool and have fun this summer. In the remaining weeks of summer, please invest time in talking to your child about the importance of learning. You can help your child do their best by encouraging them to read and engage in activities/games that practice number skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
Your child’s success is our priority! In an effort to make the 2017-2018 school year your child’s best year ever, we have spent the summer analyzing each child’s progress and planning learning activities that will meet their academic and social-emotional needs. Sutton staff are dedicated and passionate about providing an excellent education aligned to the Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards all while developing your child’s individual passions and unique strengths. We take pride identifying academic, personal, and social-emotional needs to create a plan of support that will help your child GROW EVERYDAY for the ADVENTURE of LEARNING!
We would like to invite you to Meet the Teacher Night on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 5:00-6:30 pm. This event will allow you and your child to meet their teacher and learn about this year’s learning goals. Class rosters will be posted on a bulletin board outside the office by 4:45 pm. PTSO will be conducting a contest to win backpacks filled with school supplies. Please visit the PTSO table for your free ticket to enter the contest and to get information on this year’s events. If you’re interested in joining PTSO, please see our Parent Coordinator in the office.
The first day of school is August 2, 2017. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:05 every morning. Feel free to join your child for breakfast in the cafeteria. Please note that supervision outside the cafeteria begins at 7:45 am. For your child’s safety, we ask that they remain in the cafeteria until 7:45 am. We ask that all children are on campus, heading to their classrooms when the first bell rings at 8:05 am. This allows teachers to begin teaching at 8:15 am. School ends at 3:05 pm except on early release days. Early Release is every Thursday and school ends at 1:25 pm. Being on time and present all day, every day will ensure your child gets the most out of their learning.
Please review the review schedule for the 2017/18 school year check out the the supply wish list in the Announcements section.
Thank you for your continued support! We look forward to seeing you soon!
