History

Alston School was opened in July 2001. It is the first school built using modular technology, funded by the State School Facilities Board. It is named after Mrs. Lela Alston, a long time state legislator representing the families of the Alston neighborhood.

At the end of each year, third grade students who have attended Alston School since kindergarten are inducted into the ‘Alston Angel Club.’ A picture of each year’s Alston Angel Club hangs in the school cafeteria.
